Hacks versus tips

Tips let you work inside the interface.

Hacks change the rules.

If I told you which buttons to press on a stove, that would be a tip.

If I popped off the control panel and started rewiring to make the stove work better for my current needs, that would be a hack.

RealMac Software encourages people to use the themes and interfaces provided in RapidWeaver. For most folks, this is more than enough. This is why the CSS and master index files are in a hidden directory. You can find them if you need them, but the normal user won't need to do that.

This is why RealMac tells you to duplicate theme files BEFORE making changes.

That way you can always go back to something you know works.

Changing the CSS and master index files are hacks, not tips. It's also project specific.
