me, I want it to work nearly instantaneously.
www.teknopagan.com Wed - December 6, 2006 GmailI've been experimenting with Gmail exclusively
for my Palm. The good news is that it works with a couple of modifications on
the setup. The bad news is that it doesn't send attachments very well and
Palm's Versamail program has some serious limitations.
www.teknopagan.com Mon - October 16, 2006 Cell phoneI hate phones with a passion. I didn't use to
hate phones. I actually like the idea of being to communicate almost anywhere.
But no one calls me to give me a Lamborghini. It's always because they want me
to fix something. Finally, after years of putting it off, I've accepted the
digital tether to get a cell phone.
www.teknopagan.com Wed - July 12, 2006 AAAAIIGGHH Palm withdrawlI've been without a working Palm since last
week. I could probably get the old one working for a few hours at a time, but I
have to question if it is worth it.
At first, it wasn't so bad, but the last couple of days I really have felt it. I don't have the shakes yet but it is only a matter of time.
www.teknopagan.com Fri - January 20, 2006 Business cardsI needed some quickie business cards for this
weekend. Nothing fancy, just something that is customized to a specific
occasion. So naturally I went to AppleWorks.
www.teknopagan.com Thu - January 12, 2006 Fun with Airport ExtremeSince I have multiple computers, I think
wireless networks are the best thing since internet access. The idea of having
my laptop work anywhere in the house and not having to change things for the
"main" computer is great. I've used Apple's Airport for years, and burned out
two Graphite Base Stations (they had some heat dissipation issues).
Well, the last time that happened, I upgraded to an Airport Extreme because I wanted to be able to share one printer for multiple computers. And at the same time, I upgraded from dialup to a cable modem. Yes, it is possible to use dialup on a 802.11 network, it is just slow, but with only two or three computers it is not noticeably slower than regular dialup. Everything has worked very well until I got too smart for my own good.
www.teknopagan.com Mon - December 12, 2005 Static and connectionsThe Palm m515 is a great PDA, no doubt about
it.
Except it has one big flaw. Over time (and with varying temperatures) a mild static charge builds up across a couple of places. This has no effect on the PDA itself, but it can prevent the m515 from connecting to a USB equipped computer. The good news is that Palm acknowledged the error as part of a class action lawsuit and provides cards free of charge to reset the Palm and discharge the static. The bad news is that the Florida company that Palm subcontracted the job to stinks.

Hello There
This is my no frills blog to cover all the gadgets and gizmos and technology that makes 21st Century life so exciting. Think of it as a messy set of notes that I keep for myself on all sorts of topics. It's really intended for my personal use, but I will explain sometimes as I go along.
My passion is for Macintosh and other Apple products, but I will use others as needed. If my notes and experiences can help or amuse you, so much the better. Categories
