Caterpillar flu vaccine

headlines & The Science❝A DNA-based vaccine grown in caterpillar cells instead of made using chicken eggs appears to have better protected adults against infection, researchers reported Wednesday.
The vaccine, called FluBlok, is one of a half-dozen flu vaccines available on the U.S. market but it’s unique because it uses more modern technology than most flu vaccines, which are made using very old-fashioned approaches.
A study in about 9,000 people showed FluBlok was about 30 percent more effective than a standard flu vaccine in preventing influenza infection, researchers said.
That’s a rare piece of good news in the field of flu vaccines. Influenza vaccines are notoriously ineffective.❞
