Alarm Sounds

For years I have depended on my Palm to wake me up. Playing with Tech Sounds though, and it seemed like the sounds didn't have enough "oomph" to penetrate my sleep addled brain. The Ship's Whistle, so distinctive on my m515, wouldn't twitch an eye on TiXi. So I have had to experiment.

Lately I have been using my m515 in a cradle to wake me up. Sort of a compromise really, something to get me by until I have something on TiXi that will work.

After reading about how fun Emerald Sounds were, I thought I would give them a shot. And that is when I discovered something very important.

Recorded sounds don't seem to have the same loudness as MIDI sounds on the TX.

So for waking up, I needed a MIDI sound. Most of the MIDI sounds are ok, but I needed something distinctive to wake me up. The Back to the Future theme seems to work, I'll try it tomorrow.

The key is to turn off TechSounds alarm handling and let Palmary Clock rule before going to bed.

When I get my expansion cards, I'll worry about what sounds I am going to use for a hour chime.
